When I was an industrial mechanic working in machine building company, my work mates called me lazy, because I was barely moving at work. At the same time I got quite some work done and my foreman gave the urgent work to me.
How was that possible?
I didn’t know at that time, but I was using Lean and Point of Use (POUS). I had all my tools, which I needed, placed right on my workbench, making it easy for me to reach them. Also the material was placed right in the way, that I only needed to turn around and could grab the material necessary.
